ASH Details Killed. We regret to record the death in action of Pte William Adams whose wife resides in Woodside Road, Beith. He has been many months on service, but had managed through almost unscathed till now. His wife has resided in Beith since shortly after the outbreak of war.

Notes Married. From Shelley Omerod:- Great Grandfather buried alive fought alongside brother also buried alive comrades were able to pull out great uncle in time. sadly Grandfather died survived by his wife and daughters Catherine Adams, Margaret , Stephen, and William who died in 1917. His wife Helen Connely re-married and emigrated to Canada 1923. William C Adams was buried in Belgium at Coxyde Military Cemetery which my daughter visited. First theatre of war was France on 23/11/1915 www.beith.org, 19 Feb 2009. Mrs Adams, Woodside Road, Beith, received official information that her husband, Private William Adams, Highland Light Infantry had been killed in France on 10 July. Private Adams joined the Commercial Battalion of the regiment in the early days of the war. He was 30 years of age, and a bookbinder to trade, and with Mrs Adams came to Beith two and a half years ago. Also in The Ayr Advertiser or West Country and Galloway Journal dated Thursday July 26th 1917. Mrs William Adams Woodside Rd, Beith has been officially informed that her husband Private William Adams H.L.I. was killed on 10th July. Private Adams who was 30 years of age and leaves a widow and four children, joined the Commercial Battalion in the early days of the war. Mrs Adams and family have been resident in Beith for two and a half years. The deceased soldier was a bookbinder to trade.
