Royal Highland Fusilier Roll of Honour Beith Academy Roll of Honour Glasgow University Roll of Honour Western Advertiser July 15th 1916: Private William Anderson, HLI, son of Mr William Anderson, Wilson Street, Beith, is officially reported missing since 1st July. Though enquiry has been made, Mr Anderson can find no intelligence as to the fate of his son, and the family remain in a very anxious state. Like Private Ritchie, the young man served his apprenticeship to the legal profession with Messrs Love & Williamson. When war broke out he enlisted with the HLI. He is a very promising young man and was prospering rapidly in his chosen profession. There is a possibility that he may be a prisoner of war or in hospital unidentified.
